Valtera CEO Conducts Workshop: "Surveys Throughout the Employment Lifecycle: What Matters, When"

April 14, 2005

William H. Macey, Ph.D., CEO of Valtera Corporation (formerly PRA), held a half-day workshop with Alan L. Colquitt, Ph.D., manager of Workforce Research at Eli Lilly and Company at the 20th Annual Conference of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). The workshop, entitled "Surveys Throughout the Employment Lifecycle: What Matters, When" looked at how relationships form, mature, and/or subsequently dissolve during the duration of the employment life cycle.

HR leaders, workplace industrial organizational psychologists, and other attendees came away with valuable information with which to make important adjustments to recruiting, hiring, staffing, retention, and employee and career development systems and processes.

Dr. Macey and Dr. Colquitt provided background and examples from efforts to survey employees across the employment lifecycle. Special attention was made to link these research efforts within a unified employment relationship framework including recruitment, on-boarding, multi-rater feedback, employee opinion, and exit surveys. The workshop included discussion of relevant measurement theories, domains, and constructs including employee socialization, psychological contracts, social exchange, and employee engagement and commitment.

The 20th Annual Conference of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) is held April 14-17 in Los Angeles. The conference attracted more than 3,000 of the world's leading workplace scientists.

SIOP is an international group of 6,000 industrial-organizational psychologists whose members study and apply scientific principles concerning people in the workplace.
