Valtera Teams with Crain’s Chicago Business to Identify the Second Annual “Best Places to Work in Chicago”
Crain’s again partners with Valtera to identify top Chicago-area workplaces
Rolling Meadows, IL (March 2, 2009) – For the second year in a row, Valtera, a leading provider of human capital consulting solutions, has partnered with Crain’s Chicago Business, the region’s pre-eminent business newspaper, to conduct survey research for its annual list of the “Best Places to Work in Chicago”. The “Best Places to Work in Chicago” study was first conducted by Valtera in 2007 and was repeated in the fall of 2008. Chicago-area companies with more than 100 employees were invited to participate in the two-step study. First, participating companies completed questionnaires about pay, promotions, benefits and more. Second, randomly selected employees from each company were invited to respond to a survey focusing on fairness of pay, vacation time, relationships with management and with co-workers, and other issues about the day-to-day workplace.
Valtera consultants analyzed the data from both surveys in order to determine the best places to work. The results of the study, including the top-scoring employers, are revealed in the March 2nd issue of Crain’s Chicago Business.
Valtera research has shown a strong relationship between employee engagement and both customer satisfaction and corporate financial performance; recognizing this link is especially important in the tough economic times we now face. "The relationship between employees and the company is formed and changed in unique ways when people are at risk," says William Macey, Valtera CEO. "Those organizations that squander the opportunity or damage their employment brands will find themselves at a significant disadvantage in the marketplace when the economy emerges." This study sought to identify companies that not only have the best people policies, but also those with the most highly-engaged workforce, as these will be the among companies best positioned to weather the current economic storm.
