March 30, 2011

Rolling Meadows, IL (March 30, 2011) – Valtera Corporation is very pleased to announce the publication of Technology-Enhanced Assessment of Talent, a new book coedited by Nancy Tippins, Valtera Senior Vice President and Managing Principal, and Seymour Adler, senior vice president of Aon Hewitt’s Talentpractice.

Part of SIOP’s Professional Practice Series, the book provides research-based guidelines to assist practitioners in their assessment efforts. The book discusses tactics being used in technology-enhanced assessments, such as unproctored Internet testing, computerized in-baskets, and video simulations. Organizations are increasingly turning to technology-based solutions for a variety of reasons, including reducing the cost of administering assessments and enhancing the realism of the assessments, as well as ensuring that the same assessment can be administered worldwide.

The book covers a variety of technology-enhanced assessments used at all levels of the organization and for a full range of applications, including prehire selection, promotions, and development. The book discusses a number of issues to consider when implementing a technology-enhanced assessment, including the validity and reliability of the assessment, applicant reactions, cheating, and implementation.

In addition, with numerous illustrative case studies, this book provides concrete examples of real-life technology-enhanced assessment implementations, including a wide range of examples ranging from an assessment using video-based testing at U.S. Customs and Border Protection and promotional assessment at the FBI to entry-level selection assessments at Marriott, and promotional assessments at Darden Restaurants.
